Take one a day

Day 19

I’ve had a sitting in front of the TV day. Another day when events have unfolded by the minute. I’m glad I live the boring life that I do. I hope there’s no likelihood of me being dragged to a Parliamentary committee.

It’s given me the chance to do some experimenting with my crochet hook. A few months ago I came across some crocheted frames and last night I went on a search for the pattern. Not only did I find it but there was a great Lola Nova tutorial to go with it. You can also check out the Flickr group dedicated to Lola Nova's tutorials.

This is my first attempt.

When I realised there was no mystery to it I sat down with a cup of coffee and Edie Eckman’s book, ‘Around the corner crochet borders,’ and tried to find more that I could adapt. This is number 101.

next came 15

followed by 21

and finally 78

Some were more successful than others but overall I’m quite pleased with them. I’ll still have to sit down and work out the number of stitches I need in the foundation rows. My first calculations haven’t always been correct.

They are easy to do. The first one was crocheted around a plastic bangle. For the others I used wooden curtain rings as a base and I like the smaller centre that it achieves.

My Folksy listing today is 3 metres of red crochet bunting.

One Etsy I listed the two pincushions I’d previously listed on Folksy

My Folksy July Jewel is from Merry Berry and the Little Panda. It's a pretty, fabric collage with a dandelion clock. At only 3.5" by 2.5 I'm really impressed by the amount of detail on it. I love the colours used and the fine stitching.

Love also goes to Cariad Clay .  Did you get the bilingual pun? Cariad/love geddit?

Her clay button made it to Etsy front page today.

Congratulation Cariad!!
